The Waltham used to be a American watch brand and quit the watch making industry for reasons unknown. Any way, it came back as a Swiss brand a few years ago. Not sure it is because the power of the brand traditions or the influence of the man who steers the watch company, but anyway, the watch offerings from this brand is actually very interesting. Waltham watches combine novel designs with classic style that is part of the brand’s legacy, and the result is adorable good. The watches just look novel and fashion-forward. Their complex case construction is quite unique with distinctive lugs design.
One of this reborn brand’s 2010 new watch offering is the Waltham Crescent-a high-end luxury watch with a sporty look.Sized at 43mm, the case has three material options including 18k white gold, rose gold and yellow gold. The case is fitted with a anti-reflecting sapphire crystal glass and a crown featuring a blue gem as the cabochon, Beating inside is the La Joux-Perret Calibre 3513 automatic movement that has been OSC Chronometer certified. This high end movement features a 22k white gold rotor and provides the time, the date and power reserve display.
The sporty touch all comes from the dial that features divr watch style with large hour indicators. But the hands are really a big failure. They are large, but they are too short! While I admit that the overall look of the watch is not half bad, I can not tolerate this flaw.Personally, I love the white gold model with a black face best.To my knowledge, Waltham was a brand having a traditional railroad origin. And now it is clearly that the brand orientation is 50% retro and 50% sporty. Is it interesting or odd?
